Domain Name Research and Registration
Creating a new domain name on the Internet involves:
- Researching available domain names and choosing the most appropriate one available.
- Registering the desired domain name with InterNIC.
- Setting up a "virtual host" for the domain name with the ISP.
Web Site Hosting Service
In order to place a web site on the Internet, you must find an Internet Service
Provider (ISP) to host your site. This involves:
- Evaluating the various service options and host server strengths.
- Opening an account and initiate service with an ISP.
- Choosing a stable web address: either use the ISP's domain name or register your
own domain name (i.e. yourname.com)
Web Site Design and Development
The web site design process includes most or all of the following:
- Designing the site layout - developing the hypertext structure and organizing the
content for ease of use.
- Creating a cohesive graphics design (visual theme, color scheme, etc.)
